Lyrid Meteor Shower

The Lyrid Meteor Shower peaks on the night of April 22, producing 10-20 meteors per hour at the radiant near the constellation Lyra. The Lyrids are the oldest recorded meteor shower — Chinese records from 687 BC describe them as stars that fell like rain. The shower is the dust trail of Comet Thatcher, which orbits the sun every 415 years. Meteors remain visible at lower rates through April 25.
