Bicycle Day is an unofficial holiday observed every April 19, commemorating the date in 1943 when Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann intentionally ingested LSD-25 and took a now-legendary bicycle ride home from his laboratory in Basel as the substance took effect. Roberts in 1985, and the day has since become a worldwide celebration of psychedelic science, consciousness exploration, and the history of pharmacology.
